Metamorphosis

We have a new UCIP Constitution!  The new fleet governing document proposed last month is hereby officially adopted:

  • 2014 Constitution amendment criteria: motion must receive at least two-thirds of all member votes cast
    • the motion received 14 yeas & 0 nays
  • 2019 Constitution adoption criteria: motion must receive approval from at least two-thirds of all sim host COs & concurrence from the UCIP President
    • the motion received 6 yeas & 0 nays (of 8 total UCIP hosts)
    • I hereby concur!  🙂

As of today, UCIP is now operating under the 2019 Constitution.  First, I’d like to thank every for their support: Zero nay votes is fantastic however you slice it!  In short, this is a great day for UCIP.  The new Constitution clearly defines our mission, firmly establishes the five key constitutional roles, and allows maximum flexibility to create new positions and programs to fulfill our mission: to provide fans, writers, and role players with quality Star Trek online simulations.  Full text of the 2019 Constitution will appear at the end of this post.

I also have two other announcements I’m excited to share:

  • The USS Ariadne joined us in the Davis Independent Simming Division on April 11th.  This is the fourth sim in our new group named in memory of longtime member Donald Davis.  In addition, the Ariadne won an Excellence in Gameplay award in the 2015 Tournament of Simulations.  She has a rich history dating back to the old Tango Fleet.
  • Mark Hyacinth, the Ariadne’s host, has accepted my nomination to serve as UCIP’s first Chief of Independent Simulations.  Mark is hereby promoted to Commodore, and in accordance with the 2019 Constitution, he will serve on the fleet’s leadership team representing the games from the Davis Independent Simming Division as a first among equals.

A lot of great things are happening in our fleet.  It’s an exciting time to be a member of UCIP.  Keep up the fun & the great role playing!
